Questions

Why do I only get one try at the Daily jar?

Because everyone gets the same blobs that day, one attempt each keeps it fair: your score is how you did with those blobs, not the best of many tries. For unlimited play, use the endless jar from Play.

When does the next Daily jar come out?

At 00:00 UTC every day. That’s 9 am in Tokyo, 1 am in London in summer, and 5 pm the evening before in Los Angeles in summer. Your daily results show a live countdown to the next jar.

I left the app in the middle of a Daily jar. What happened?

Your attempt counts with the score you had reached. Going Home from the pause menu ends the attempt there and shows your results. If the app was closed completely, the score is recorded the next time you open Blobjar, and sent to the leaderboard if it’s still the same day in UTC.

Just switching to another app doesn’t end anything: the game pauses and waits for you.

My Daily jar ran past 00:00 UTC. Where did the score go?

A run counts for the day it started. Its score is kept on your iPhone as that day’s result, but it isn’t sent to the leaderboard, because Game Center would file it under the next day.

Why don’t I see “world median” or “top %” on my daily results?

That line appears only when you’re signed in to Game Center and at least 20 players have a score for that day. Early in the day, or on a quiet day, it may not be there yet.

How do I sign in to Game Center?

Blobjar offers Game Center sign-in when it opens. You can also tap Leaderboards on the title screen, or sign in from the iPhone’s Settings app under Game Center.

Scores from runs you finish while signed out are sent once you sign in, as long as Blobjar hasn’t been closed in between. A Daily jar score is sent only while it’s still that day in UTC.

How do I turn off sound or vibration?

Tap Settings on the title screen. There’s a switch for Sound and one for Haptics, and both take effect straight away.

Blobjar has no music. Its sounds play alongside your own music or podcasts, and the silent switch mutes them.

Can I get my progress back, or move it to a new iPhone?

Your best scores, daily results and settings are stored only on your iPhone. There’s no Blobjar account and no cloud sync, so there’s nothing on a server to restore from.

  • If you set up a new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup of your old one, your Blobjar progress comes along with the backup.
  • Deleting Blobjar deletes its progress. Reinstalling starts fresh.
  • Scores you’ve sent to Game Center stay on the leaderboards with your Game Center account.
Does Blobjar cost anything or show ads?

No. Blobjar is free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.

How do I pause?

Tap the small round pause button under your score. From there you can resume, restart (endless only) or go Home. Leaving the app also pauses the run.

What accessibility features does Blobjar support?
  • Reduce Motion: turns off the blobs’ idle breathing and the droplets and floating points of a merge, and halves the squash and stretch.
  • Larger text: the menus grow with your text size. The in-game score and the share picture keep a fixed size.
  • VoiceOver: buttons and menus are labelled. The jar itself can’t be played with VoiceOver.
  • Colour: the colours of neighbouring blob sizes are checked to stay distinct with the most common kinds of colour blindness. Each blob is also a different size, and the bigger ones wear cheeks and crowns.
What does Blobjar do with my data?

Nothing leaves your iPhone except what you send: scores to Game Center if you’re signed in, and pictures you choose to share. There are no accounts, analytics or trackers. The privacy policy has the details.
